Meeting and talking to children has a huge impact on their self esteem and sense of worth and purpose. Talking to them about the value of education and how it transforms lives and society engenders in them a desire to get an education and be motivated to be active global citizens who can make meaningful contributions at individual, household and community levels.
Engaging parents, guardians or carers is an effective way of making them understand the value of taking their children to school and away from street vending, performing domestic chores rather than attendig school. A well informed parent and guardian will do everything in their power and means to ensure a child in their care goes to school.
It is only through engaging various key stakeholders in education such as policy makers, educationists, donors, civil society, civic leaders and communities that effective delivery of quality education that meets the individual, comunity and national needs can be achieved.
Opportunities must be created for children to learn. A conducive environment to learning will always produce quality in education. A home must be the first place where kids must feel comfortable to learn and do their school work. This will make them look forward to going home and complete that home work!
A home where there is domestic violence, alcohol and drug abuse and child labour is often a very difficult place for a child to learn and appreciate study or school work.
